Badge Placement
A guide to where badges should be placed on the Scout uniform, representing your journey, identity, and involvement in the movement.
The Scout uniform is a source of pride for members, displaying their achievements, their local community, and their participation in major events. This guide helps ensure badges are placed correctly according to Scouts Victoria standards.

Detailed Placement
The Front of the Uniform
The front of the uniform is the most viewed area and presents your immediate involvement in Scouting.
- Australian Flag Badge: Worn above the pocket on the left-hand side.
- World Scout Badge: Worn alongside the Australian Flag badge.
- Event Badge: Only one approved event badge (max 75mm x 75mm) may be worn at a time.
- Years of Service: Worn below the World Scout and Flag badges.
The Left Sleeve (My Journey)
This sleeve recognizes your progress through the Achievement Pathways.
- Peak Awards: You may wear all peak awards earned during your time in Scouting (e.g., Grey Wolf, Australian Scout Award) at the top of the sleeve.
- Outdoor Adventure Skills: These form a 3x3 grid. Only the highest stage achieved in each of the nine activity areas should be worn.
- Special Interest Areas: These may form a hexagon. You wear the badges for the projects you have completed in the current section.
The Right Sleeve (My Identity)
This sleeve represents your local Scout group and your engagement with broader initiatives.
- Group/District/Region Tapes: Worn at the top to show where you belong.
- Scouts4SDGs: Badges for initiatives like Earth Tribe or Tide Turners.
- Additional Awards: First Aid, Walkabout, and other special recognition badges.
[!TIP] OAS Badges: Outdoor Adventure Skills stages follow a young person through their entire Scouting journey. When you move to a new section (e.g., Cubs to Scouts), you should move your highest OAS badges to your new uniform.
