The difference an active, enthusiastic leader can make
Mike Downes argues that the key to lifting interest in Scouts is recruiting enthusiastic leaders. Where adults are active and encouraging, young people camp, compete and make their Patrols work.
He challenges leaders who are simply holding the fort to bring more energy and thought to their program, or to find others who can help. Support material and activity ideas matter, but the leader still has to make the experience happen.
The aim is a happy, enthusiastic section with activities that send a young person home saying, “Scouts is fantastic!”
