Charlie, Mike and Romeo are heading for Gawler

Friday 10 July 2026 is a travel day for the Uluru expedition.

All three groups, Charlie, Mike and Romeo, are now on their way home. Today they are travelling from Coober Pedy to Gawler, where they will stay overnight at the Gawler Scout Hall.

This is one of those big driving days where the main job is to look after each other and keep moving steadily. The Scouts have done a lot over the last two weeks, and the buses are full of tired but happy people, dusty bags, sleeping mats, snacks, and stories.

The leaders have been checking in with each other along the way, making sure the convoy is travelling well and that everyone is fed, warm, and ready for the next stop. It has been good to see the patrols settle into the rhythm of the trip. They know how to pack, help, wait patiently, and get back on the bus when it is time to go.

Tomorrow, Saturday 11 July, the group will do the final leg back to Bundoora. That will be a special moment for families and for the Scouts, who have been away on a very big adventure.

Two of the three buses still have one more job after that. On Sunday 12 July, one bus will head back to Heany Park and another will head to Grovedale. After carrying our Scouts across so much of Australia, they will be going their separate ways too.

For now, we are focusing on today: Coober Pedy to Gawler, one stop at a time, and one step closer to home.
