Above ground, below ground, and out among the mulga trees
Monday 29 June 2026 gave everyone a break from sitting on buses and a chance to get properly dusty. The Uluru crew spent the day around Broken Hill, learning a bit of the mining story that shaped the place.
The mine tour took the group above ground and below ground. Above ground, there was old equipment, red dirt, open country, and plenty to look at. Below ground, the rock walls did most of the talking. It is one thing to hear about mining history. It is another thing to stand inside it with a helmet on.
The day also included Daydream Mine and the mulga trees. The convoy moved between stops on red dirt roads, with the country opening up around us and the vehicles looking more like an expedition convoy by the hour.
