The final checks are underway before our red centre adventure
The Uluru expedition is now just 14 days away. On Saturday 27 June 2026, our Scouts, Venturer Scouts, leaders, buses, support vehicles, and a mountain of gear will gather at Bundoora Scout Hall for muster day. Then, bright and early on Sunday 28 June 2026, the adventure begins as we head for Broken Hill and the long trail towards the red centre.
There is plenty happening before we roll out. Bags are being checked, sleeping gear is being packed, menus are being reviewed, and everyone is making sure they are ready for a big outback journey. It is the kind of moment where “be prepared” moves from motto to mission, and yes, we are trying not to get tied up in knots over the final details.
Expeditioners should also remember that first aid training and catch-up is tomorrow, Sunday 14 June 2026, at Bundoora Scout Hall. Please make sure you are there if you need to complete the session or catch up on anything before departure. It is one more important step in making sure everyone is ready to look after themselves and each other on the road.
This trip has been a huge team effort, with Scouts and leaders working together across the planning, fundraising, logistics, safety checks, and route preparation. Every little job matters, from checking a torch battery to making sure the convoy plans are ready. It is shaping up to be a badge-worthy adventure, and the excitement around the Group is easy to spot.
