The final checks are underway before our red centre adventure
The Uluru expedition is now 14 days away, which is close enough that the packing lists have stopped being theoretical. On Saturday 27 June 2026, Scouts, Venturer Scouts, leaders, buses, support vehicles, and a mountain of gear will gather at Bundoora Scout Hall for muster day. On Sunday 28 June 2026, we point the convoy towards Broken Hill and start the long run to the red centre.
There is still plenty to do before we roll out. Bags need checking, sleeping gear needs sorting, menus need one more look, and leaders are asking the same useful questions in five different ways. This is the point where “be prepared” stops being a motto on a wall and starts sounding like someone checking batteries.
Expeditioners should also remember that first aid training and catch-up is tomorrow, Sunday 14 June 2026, at Bundoora Scout Hall. If you need to finish the session or catch up before departure, please be there. A good trip starts with people who know how to look after themselves and the person next to them.
This trip has taken a lot of hands. Scouts and leaders have worked through planning, fundraising, logistics, safety checks, and route preparation. Some jobs are big and obvious. Some jobs are as small as checking a torch battery before it becomes someone else’s problem at bedtime.

Families and friends will be able to follow along once the expedition is underway using our live trip tracker. For now, the countdown is on. Uluru has moved from “one day” to “pack your bag properly, because this is happening.”
