Big views, red rocks, and a helicopter tour
Saturday 4 July 2026 was a very special day for our Uluru expedition crew.
Some of the Scouts had the chance to go up in a helicopter and see the country from the air. For one of our Scouts it was their very first helicopter ride, which made it even more exciting. There were plenty of big smiles before take-off, and even bigger ones when they came back down.
Seeing the red dirt, trees, roads, and rock formations from above is something the youth members will remember for a long time. It was a good reminder that this trip is not just about getting to each stop. It is about trying new things, being brave, and sharing the adventure with your patrol.
We also spent time at Kings Canyon. The red rock walls, creek beds, gums, and wide open views were beautiful. It is the sort of place where everyone naturally slows down a little and looks around. The Scouts noticed the colours in the rocks, the water moving through the creek, and how different the landscape feels from home.
It was a big day, but a very good one. These are the moments that make all the planning, packing, driving, and early starts worth it.
